December 2004:
For implementing the new joint Media Monitoring project of CIMERA and INTERNEWS during parliamentary and presidential elections in Kyrgyzstan December 2004 - November 2005, which is funded by the OSCE, CIMERA Kyrgyzstan is seeking the following candidates:
Media Monitoring Project Manager in Bishkek
Qualifications Required:
- Good knowledge of the media sector: print and electronic media of Kyrgyzstan;
- Experience in project management, including planning, financial management, media monitoring and reporting;
- Experience of managing dynamic teams and projects;
- Good knowledge of Russian and English required, Kyrgyz is preferably.
- University degree in related field
Media Monitoring Expert in Bishkek
Qualifications Required:
- Good knowledge of the media sector: print and electronic media of Kyrgyzstan;
- Experience in conducting media projects, including media monitoring and reporting;
- Good conceptual, analytical and writing skills with attention to detail;
- Experience of managing dynamic teams and projects;
- Good knowledge of Russian and English required, Kyrgyz an advantage.
- University degree in related field
Media Monitoring Officers in Bishkek, Osh, Djalal-Abad and Batken
Qualifications Required:
- Good knowledge of the media sector: print and electronic media of Kyrgyzstan;
- Good analytical and writing skills with attention to detail;
- Capacity to work in a small but dynamic team;
- Self motivated and self starter person
- Good knowledge of Russian and Kyrgyz required, English an advantage.
- University degree in related field
IT specialist in Bishkek, Osh, Djalal-Abad and Batken.
Qualifications Required:
- To provide project with good and stable equipment functioning
- To eliminate technical problems and provide with consultations the project stuff
- To know Windows 2000/XP, MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), basic network technology and digital audio montage.
- To be able to travel in province centers of KR.

September-October 2004:
Capacity Building in International Relations
Two Week Workshop in Yerevan
From September 26 to October 8, 2004 CIMERA/CMI is hosting "Capacity Building in International Relations" training project sponsored by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). The project is implemented by the Graduate Institute of International Studies (Geneva) in cooperation with CIMERA/ CMI under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia. It addresses young government officials from Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia, and focuses on negotiations skills, human rights and humanitarian law. Twelve participants from Armenia and seven participants from Georgia, representing different state agencies are attending the course. Paul Meerts, Deputy Director from Clingendael Institute (The Hague), Andrea Bianchi and Daniel Warner from Graduate Institute of International Studies (Geneva) are leading different phases of the course.
The aim of the project is to strengthen the capacity of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia for effective representation at the international level through series of conferences and workshops on Negotiation, Human Rights/Humanitarian Law and Diplomacy.
On September 27 the group of participants was received by Mr.Ruben Shugarian, Deputy Minister to the Foreign Affairs at the presence of the Mr. Niculin Jager, Deputy Head of the Mission of Switzerland in Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaidjan, Mr.Genrich Georgobiani, Mrs. Zara Alaverdian, from the Regional office of SDC and Mr.Achim Wenmann from the Graduate Institute. The closing cession of the course is planted to be held in the premises of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs where Mr.Daniel Warner, Deputy to Director of the Graduate Institute and Mr. Ruben Shugarian will address the audience.
In order to take advantage from the presence of the high-level European specialists, three seminars are organized in the premises of the CMI and are open to the large public:
Friday, October 1, at 18:00 - "Domestic implementation of international obligations" by prof. Andrea Bianchi at the invitation of Armenian Society of International Law.
Tuesday, October 5, at 18:30 - "Terrorism and international law" by prof. Andrea Bianchi.
Friday, October 8, at 17:00 - " US Elections and Foreign Policy" by Dr. Daniel Warner.

March 2004:
CMI Hosts World
Press Photo in Yerevan Again
We are pleased to announce that World Press Photo 2003 Exhibition will
open on March 4, 2004 at “Moscow” Movie Theater, Yerevan,
Armenia. The exhibition will be on show until March 29.
World Press Photo is the premier annual international competition in press
photography. After prizes are awarded, the exhibition of winner images
visits around 80 cities all over the world.
The Grand Prix winner of World Press Photo 2003 is a black & white
picture by Armenian American photographer Eric Grigorian from Polaris
Images.
3,913 professional photographers from 118 countries participated in the
2003 contest. With a total number of 53,597 images, it attracted a record
number of entries. The jury gave prizes in 9 theme categories to 55 photographers
of 21 nationalities from Armenia, Australia, Belgium, Canada, Colombia,
Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Japan,
Kyrgyzstan, People’s Republic of China, Peru, Poland, South Africa,
Spain, United Kingdom and the USA.
World Press Photo brought its exhibition to the South Caucasus for first
time last year on the initiative of the Caucasus Media Institute. The
WPP 2002 Exhibition was displayed in Yerevan at “Moscow” Movie
Theatre for three weeks starting January 17, 2003.
